Project Timeline

• Logging operations are very active in the Moser area including both tractor based and skyline logging.
• Timber hauling via log truck on FS roads #6210, #6213, and down Hyalite Canyon.
• Heavy equipment has been used to fell, skid, and process timber.
• Closure at lower Moser ridge area above Kirk Hill at the FS boundary (closed effective January 26th) is lifted as of April 1, 2022.
• Skyline logging activities will resume June 1, 2022.
• Temporary roads will be rehabbed after all logging is complete in the area.

(Closure includes NSF trails #428 located 0.5 mile from Kirk Hill trailhead, #429 in Hodgman Canyon, and FS road #6210. Closure applies to all uses, 7 days a week, for public health and safety.)

• Timber removal (Start of Sourdough Fuels Reduction Phase 2 – Helicopter) – Sourdough Canyon/Bozeman Creek trail closure[BH] (Oct/November best guess for closure at this point)
• Helicopter and heavy truck use
• Closure of Sourdough Trail on City of Bozeman and USFS lands (FS Trail #454/#979) October 11th-November 8th and November 16-18th
• City of Bozeman and USFS completes ground-based and helicopter treatments adjacent to Bozeman Creek
• Log trucks hauling timber out of Sourdough Trail
• Road maintenance grading and seeding of disturbed soils on Sourdough Trail
• Temporary access road building on USFS lands in the Moser Road area

• Large diameter thinning with ground-based equipment near Bozeman Creek/Sourdough Trail
• Possibility of re-evaluating prescribed burning

• Small diameter thinning in Leverich Gulch and Moser trailhead (hand crews with chainsaws)
• Large diameter thinning with ground-based equipment near Bozeman Creek/Sourdough Trail
• Noxious/invasive weed spraying on haul roads (now complete)
