- Hauling out of remaining log decks in Moser area
- Helicopter logging may start mid-November on the east side of Bozeman Creek
- Additional closures of Sourdough Canyon/Bozeman Creek trail may be necessary in the next few months
November 2023
- Closure of Sourdough Canyon #454 and Leverich Canyon trails (#435/436) starts November 16th
- Tree felling and flying of timber near the City of Bozeman’s water intake structure
- Burning of debris piles (hand and mechanical) on both NFS lands in Moser and Leverich areas
- Burning of debris piles on City of Bozeman lands near Bozeman Creek
- Log trucks hauling on Nash road to 19th Ave
- Plan to harvest into December and potentially beyond if weather conditions allow
December 2023
- Sourdough Canyon trail reopens to the public
- Leverich Canyon trail reopens to the public

2024
January 2024
- Commercial harvest activities complete for the season.
- Burning of large commercial and small hand slash piles occurring in the project area.
February 2024
- Pile burning on both National Forest System lands and City of Bozeman lands on the east and west sides of Bozeman Creek.
- Sourdough Canyon trail remains open to the public during burning operations.
March 2024
- Burning of large commercial and small hand slash piles occurring in the project area.
April 2024
- Prep work occurring for unit 19 broadcast burn planned for spring. This unit is west of Langohr Campground.
May 2024
- Continue prep work for unit 19 broadcast burned planning for spring. This broadcast burn was postponed due to weather conditions.
June 2024
- BMW helicopter contract starts. Felling in units in the Leverich Canyon area started, including units that cross Leverich Canyon trail. Helicopter service landing is at the City of Bozeman’s water treatment plant.
- Trail closure in place on #435 and #436 Leverich Canyon loop, closure will be in effect until September (possibly sooner). Closure orders and maps can be found on the Custer Gallatin National Forest website.
- Log trucks hauling on Nash Road to South 19th Street. Work expected to continue into September of this year.
